A long-awaited project for the community is underway. A pedestrian bridge carrying the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB-owned Chessie Nature Trail over the South River is expected to be replaced over the coming months.

Col. Tinni Sen, professor of economics in the Department of Economics and Business at the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, is one of the 12 recipients of the 2021 Outstanding Faculty Awards.

The ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Center for Leadership and Ethics, host of the annual Environment Virginia Symposium, announced that Darryl Glover has been selected as the 2020 Captain Ron Erchul Environmental Leadership Award winner.

Lt. Col. Julie Phillips Brown, associate professor of English and fine arts at ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, will be featured on public radio’s With Good Reason Dec. 12-18, in an episode titled “Writing Through.”

¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB began the process today of relocating the Stonewall Jackson statue from the front of barracks to the Virginia Museum of the Civil War and New Market Battlefield State Historical Park.

The ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) took a major step toward a new initiative when Institute leaders signed an agreement for a grant award with the Department of Defense (DoD) to establish a cyber defense laboratory on post.

Members of the committee approved a charter for the committee after consultation with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, Dr. Janice Underwood, and secretary of education, Atif Qarni.

Gov. Ralph Northam ‘81 has appointed E. Sean Lanier ’94 to the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Board of Visitors. Lanier, a U.S. Army veteran, is the founder & executive director of Resolve Solutions Inc., an Alexandria, Virginia nonprofit that provides financial and educational college prep support to underserved populations.

Retired Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins will serve as interim superintendent of the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB following an affirmative vote by the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Board of Visitors Executive Committee. Maj. Gen. Wins is a 34-year veteran of the U.S. Army and a 1985 graduate of the Institute.

¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, in partnership with the Department of Health, is hosting two free COVID testing events. Both are open to the public, and social distancing will be strictly maintained.
