Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced the appointment of three new members to the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Board of Visitors,

Mattie Quesenberry Smith, Ph.D., instructor in the Department of English, Rhetoric, and Humanistic Studies at ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB and Virginia’s poet laureate, was recognized by AFCEA TechNet Cyber with a meritorious service award at their event in Baltimore, June 1.

¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB has named Maj. Alison Burke, assistant professor in the Department of Biology, as the Institute’s health professions advisor, assuming the role vacated by Col. Wade Bell upon his retirement last year.

The Jackson House Museum seeks volunteers to assist in the museum gift shop and to serve as docents assisting visitors with tours and answering questions about the life and times of Thomas Jonathan Jackson in the years he lived in the home.

¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB now offers industry-recognized certifications through Bioscience Core Skills Institute (BCSI) for cadets enrolled in the cell and molecular biology course.

After 50 years of faithful service working in the Military Store at ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, Terry McGowan has retired.

The National Academy of Education (NAEd), an honorary educational society, has selected Maj. Zachary Deibel, assistant professor in the Department of History at ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, as a 2026 NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow.

Sherif Abdelhamid, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and team member of the Cyber Defense Lab at ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, has been selected as a 2026-27 Nielsen Center fellow, a prestigious national fellowship awarded by the Nielsen Center.

The ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Community Theatre will hold auditions for its summer show, “The Odd Couple,” female version, Monday, June 1; Tuesday, June 2; Wednesday, June 3; and Thursday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Gillis Theater located in Marshall Hall on post.

¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB celebrated the Class of 2026 as they completed their cadetships with one final ceremony in Cameron Hall Sunday, May. 17. From the opening notes of “Pomp and Circumstance” to one final "Old Yell" the event was filled with joy as cadets officially joined the prestigious ranks of ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB alumni
