Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB community at large:
- Admissions Open House Registration is Open! ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Open Houses are the best way for high school juniors and seniors to see and experience first-hand what it's like being a cadet at the Institute. This 2-day program is designed to be informational for both students and their parent(s)/guardian(s). Learn more and secure a spot today for one of three fall opportunities.
- ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Board of Visitors: The ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Board of Visitors will be holding special meetings Aug. 12-13 to interview finalists for the position of ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB superintendent. For more information regarding these meetings please visit the BOV upcoming meetings page.
- Chessie Trail Congestion: ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB cadets will have training along the Chessie Nature Trail Thursday, Aug. 14, from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. Portions of the trail will be congested that morning.
- ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB Bookstore: The bookstore, now managed by Barnes & Noble, is open this summer, Mon. - Fri. 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Extended hours for Matriculation will be this Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Families and fans are also encouraged to shop on the new online store, .
- Support ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB's Cadet-Athletes: Schedules are available now for NCAA Division I fall sports at the Institute, including matchups against rivals The Citadel for football, women's soccer, and rifle. Matriculation 2025
This Saturday, the latest group to commit to No Ordinary College will arrive on post to begin their leadership journey. Take a look back at how the Class of 2028 spent the first seven days in Lexington.
Appointed students and their families are encouraged to review the information available at vmi.edu/matriculation as well as communications sent via email to ensure a smooth first day on post. Those arriving early on Friday are encouraged to complete the uniform fitting and issue process in Cameron Hall. The 2025-2026 ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB New Cadet Handbook is also now available.

Virginia’s poet laureate, ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB instructor Mattie Quesenberry Smith, Ph.D., has launched “Perseverance and Resilience,” a statewide poetry initiative supporting veterans’ health and well-being through workshops, a poetry contest, and public celebrations.

Anna Grace Adams ’26, a history major minoring in Arabic at ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB, believes considering the points of view of peoples from different cultures is crucial when establishing policy or providing aid.
Community Advisory: ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB's CPTF Temporarily Closes to the Public
Due to the preparation for and the training of the incoming matriculants, ¶þ´ÎÔªÄÛB’s Corps Physical Training Facility (CPTF) community walk will not be available from Saturday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 24. Community members will soon be welcomed back into the CPTF.
